In case you missed it on the home page, here’s my mission statement:

I want you to feel better.
I want you to find something good.
Something you enjoy doing that
Makes you feel better about yourself.
We are all creative.
I want you to know this.

Something Good to Create is the section of the blog that I’m most scared about, but I have a feeling it may turn out to be my favorite. I’m scared because that’s the nature of creativity. It can be uncomfortable. There’s no template. There’s no checklist. You just be creative. It’s not always like gardening or cooking where you read books and take lessons and then you’re good. It’s more like a wall you have to break through. A way of thinking you have to change.

What I mean is that a lot of people think they aren’t creative because someone told them they weren’t good at drawing or singing when they were young, or they tell themselves they just aren’t creative because they don’t act like other creative people. We like to label ourselves and separate into categories because it’s easier that way. It’s more comfortable. But it’s so limiting.

Of course, there are varying degrees of everything, and your stoner painter friend who also plays guitar and talks to birds might naturally have more creative juices flowing, but it doesn’t mean you don’t have any. You’d believe me if you saw the transformation I’ve witnessed in some of my music students.

I felt inspired to start this blog because i believe that creativity is one of the keys to living a joyful life, and I want you to know that you are creative, too.

I love playing music and painting and knitting and crocheting (more than knitting) and making crafts. So, I might write about how to do some of those things. Or, I might write about the pain of the ebbs and flows of feeling creative. Definitely expect some seasonal crafts to decorate your house on a budget because those are my favorite! Or Basil and I may write a song and post about the process. Or I’ll get some creative friends to write about what they do. Who knows. I guess that’s the whole point of this blog. We’ll jump in and see where it goes. No plan and no checklist.

I hope you find Something Good in each section of this blog.
My goal is to help you be more creative in every season and in all kinds of ways.
